My netball dream is...
Marlborough Netball Centre Inc services netball related programs in the Marlborough Region starting with our Future Ferns Program, right through to our Senior and Representative sides who travel throughout New Zealand. MNC has over 1400 players for the 2019 season, and are consistently one of the highest participation per population regions in New Zealand for Netball. A fundamental part of facilitating these programs is employing a Netball Development Officer who works with our community to foster our future netballers and ensure that opportunities are provided for any girls and boys wanting to further their netball skills. Marlborough Netball Centre’s Netball Development Officer will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of Marlborough Netball Centre (MNC) netball programs, whilst encouraging participation, creating meaningful competition and promoting improvement across all areas of netball. The role ensures effective delivery of coordinated netball programs, which will grow and sustain participation in people involved in netball in Marlborough, Increase the quality and skills of players at community level, Increase the quality and skills of coaches at community level. The NDO works with many groups in our community and is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships and communication with schools, volunteers, coaches, all of MNC stakeholders and the wider community,
developing and maintaining positive relationships with other Netball Centres in the zone, Netball Mainland and Netball New Zealand and working with other partners to implement combined initiatives and programs for the development of netball.
The NDO works 30 hours per week throughout the year and organises programs such as Player Development Programs during school holidays, skills in schools during preseason to encourage players to join a netball team, and also organises the selection and all travel requirements for the representative teams. As Marlborough Netball Centre is a non profit organisation, we require funding to ensure wages can be paid to our staff, and funding from ANZ would assist MNC with the continued employment of the NDO throughout the summer season so that programs can continue to reach more children and adults and encourage their participation in Netball. You can find more info and images from Marlborough Netball Centre on our Facebook page, and we would be happy to provide ANZ with any other additional information about how this funding would be utilised for wages for our NDO if required. Marlborough Netball Centre would like to thank ANZ for your consideration of this grant to help us fund these wages.
