Hikuai School

My netball dream is...

Our small rural school is nestled in a valley 35kms on the way towards the Coromandel. We have children from three areas around our school, Tairua, Pauanui, and Puketui Valley. Our school is over 100 years old and still have the unique character of a small rural school, however we are nestled conveniently between, Hamilton, Tauranga and Auckland only 2 hours away. We have always and will always be a central hub for all of our community. We have amazing events for our community like the Outdoors expo over the xmas break, The hog hunters family fun hunting event, black tie dinners in pauanui, School productions in our Hikuai hall and soon to be brought back the rafting race down our river and long bush treks up the Pinnacles maunga. We have been fundraising for 5 years to finally be in a position to replace our old black concrete court with a brand new tiger turf all weather artificial grass court. This is a massive investment where the school invested nearly 50k into the project, from all of these fundraising efforts over the years. We have some old goal posts which had to be cut off from the court which now unfortunately are useless. We have some soccer goal posts which we will move onto the court, however it would be the crowning glory to replace the old nets with height adjustable netball hoops for our 60 children to play on, and the numerous sports club teams from around our area, and clubs who all of our facilities. This court upgrade is for the approximately 1000 people of our community to use from the three districts where our families come from. When we unveil the new court we will invite all of our communities to the grand opening and invite the local newspapers along to celebrate our new public asset for our community. We sincerely hope that ANZ could help us with our efforts and provide some assistance towards new nets for our court. Nga mihi nui. Murray Hawke Principal
