Y5 Raider Hawks

My netball dream is...

Our team is currently with 7 members who played together last year for the first time. We are waiting for another player to join our team this year. None of our players had played netball before but the passion they showed at trainings and especially at our games on a weekly basis was high. They each have their own strengths and area of improvements but towards the end of the season last year, I watched our girls grow to be confident young ladies from some players coming from not being able to catch and being afraid of the ball to being strong and not afraid of being of the ball. This year, we have already started organising our team in regards to applying for holding bbq fundraisers outside Bunnings so we can try and get as much funding as possible to pay for what our players wanted to do this year. We would like to fundraise and seek sponsorship to get our team track suits, training gear, water bottles and water bottle holders, and hold an awesome end of season team break up which would mean getting individual trophies and have 3 special trophies. Last year, we fundraised for our team prize giving and took them to Xtreme in Botany and then across the road to Paradice. Our girls had a awesome time. This year we would like to do something similar. Our team have supportive parents which whom majority of us have more than one child playing sports and this can become very expensive for our families so we decided to try and fundraise for everything we would like to achieve as a team this year. To be successful in obtaining a grant to help pay for things would be fantastic not only for our players who continue to strive to learn many skills such as the basic fundamentals of Netball, the meeting of team work both on and off the court, the importance of dynamic and static stretching to avoid injury and most importantly showing great sportsmanship on the court. This year is the beginning of the competitive grade and they know that this year is all about winning, but one thing that is better than winning is that the team has fun while on court. My philosophy is that if we can teach our kids at a young age to love netball, they will retain what they learn at trainings and will apply it on the court. If they enjoy netball and continue to be passionate about Netball, they will grow up still loving it and will have goals to strive to become a great Silver Fern Player. Thank you for the opportunity to apply for sponsorship.
