ACES Netball Club Incorporated

My netball dream is...

We are a newly formed netball club from Porirua called ACES. We became an incorporated society on the 9th of October 2018. The aim of our club is to encourage girls from Aotea College to keep playing netball after they leave school. Our girls have been loyal to the college when others have played for clubs instead and because they have no affiliation to a club they may stop playing netball (as many others have). At the same time we also want to help revitalise the Kapi Mana netball competition here in Porirua. The competition has a lot of younger and older players but not many players in their late teens and early 20s. Our club is starting out small with one team, predominately made up of Year 13 players from the 2018 Aotea College Senior A team, and will be coached by the current Senior A and C coaches. We hope to add a netball team each year to our club as more girls leave the college and other ex-students hear about us. We also welcome ex-students from other colleges in Porirua. We are applying for this grant because we are starting with nothing, apart from a bunch of enthusiastic individuals with a common goal. The girls deserve this grant because they are talented, hardworking and appreciate everything that others do for them. Members of our team also give back to our school and community by being coaches and umpires. We want to keep the costs to our girls as low as possible and will fundraise as much as possible to do this. We estimate our initial start up costs to be at least $3,000. This includes Incorporated society fee - $102, Kapi Mana new club affiliation fee - $130, uniforms and bibs $800 (minimum per team), Kapi Mana competition fee - $1,125 (but subject to increase), court fees for training - $362, netballs - $300 and training equipment such as cones, ladders, hurdles, first aid kits, etc- $200. We welcome any contributions of netball gear and training equipment so we can get stuck into our pre-season training. We have an awesome quote of $800 for our first set of uniforms which would like to purchase soon to inspire the girls. We would really appreciate assistance in any form that ANZ courtside provide.
