My netball dream is...
Since last year, we have been working to boost the sporting culture and confidence of our school and their families. We are a small school of around 200 children, years 1 - 8 and after taking our students on a number of sports exchanges, we noticed that many of our strong athletes didn't want to compete. The belief was that it was embarrassing to play for NCA because our school was useless at sport, some children would enter inter-schools in mufti to avoid association. So, we have been working with our children to reverse this culture by encouraging more involvement from an earlier age, upskilling our netball coaches and even starting a netball team for mums. One of our coaches even collects and delivers home those children who could not play because their parents can't transport them. The result has been a huge rise in confidence and engagement. Now, 1/4 of our school are netballers, including 5 boys!! However, we are very under-resourced. The school court is not regulation length and much of our equipment is dated. We have pretty good balls and lovely uniforms, thanks to fundraising efforts from parents, but would love basic equipment to improve basic skills such as agility ladders, dots and practice bibs - perhaps even uniforms for our Year 3/4 team. At this point we would be very happy with the ladders, dots and bibs but anything else would be a bonus. Meet some of our kids and hear why here https://youtu.be/PQp8RuluLvE
Thanks for considering us, we love the game!
